1. What is TCAP?
TCAP (Transitional Colorado Assessment Program) is a comprehensive test to determine levels of achievement in state standards. TCAP measures your student’s progress over time.
2. Does my child have to take TCAP?
Yes, per state law [22-7-409(1.2.a.1.d.I)], all students enrolled in a Colorado public school must take a state assessment at the appropriate grade level and content areas. PGA students in grades 3-10 will take the TCAP. Having every student tested is crucial to every school, including PSD Global. Without having every student tested, PGA risks being placed on a school improvement plan and even closure.
3. Why is the TCAP important for my child?
- We Can Help Your Child! -- The results help teachers know how to support your student through enrichment, intervention, or acceleration. While the TCAP is not the only test your kids will take at PGA, we feel it is important to see how your child is doing throughout the year. This helps school staff guide instruction and plan our classes.
- PGA Stays Open! -- In order for our unique school to remain an option for students and families, we must meet specific participation requirements set by the state of Colorado.
- We can see student growth! -- Teachers and parents can see exactly where a student has been and where they are headed academically. This information allows us to provide individual opportunities so children reach their full potential!
- Your child is eligble to re-enroll with PGA! - In order to return next school year, PGA students must meet certain criteria for continued enrollment (including meeting state laws like TCAP participation.)
Not only is it state law, but attendance is required for enrollment in PGA as a School of Choice.
