Partnering to Support and Empower Each Learner

Jane Phelan

High School English Teacher

Hi. My name is Jane Phelan, and I am a high school English teacher here at PGA. I am so excited about the hybrid and virtual possibilities. Teaching and learning alongside teenagers and figuring out how we can best incorporate ourselves into this world in beautiful and productive ways is my passion.

Recently, I finished a Masters's in English at Colorado State University- GO RAMS! For the last several years, I have been a teacher leader in the district, pushing out the reader's and writer's workshop model. The workshop model uses a mini-lesson format to teach students the techniques and skills of good readers and professional writers. The workshop model is an ideal format for the hybrid and virtual classroom, and I love using this model at PGA.

In my free time- I love to spend time with family and friends. I love to read and write. I am also an avid hiker, biker, yogi, and cook. This time of year, one of my favorite things is perfectly sun-ripened homegrown tomatoes. I  have just begun my tomatoes-eating odyssey, and I cannot wait to start eating tomato toast three times a day, and I cannot wait to meet my students!

The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

                   Answer.

That you are here—that life exists and identity,

That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.
